Netizens slam Kris Jenner for jumping on the Ozempic train: Are they right?

And like every other controversy in recent times it all started with a series of photos that Kris Jenner shared on her Instagram. The netizens noticed that Kris was looking considerably thinner in the pictures and without wasting any valuable time the netizens accused her of using Ozempic for weight loss. Ozempic-shaming has been very common in Hollywood and it seems like Kris Jenner is the most recent victim of Ozempic shaming in Hollywood. 

While posting the pictures on Instagram Kris also tagged her bae Corey Gamble along with her makeup artists. She also added the caption “A New York state of mind”. Although Kris herself did not talk about her weight loss in her post, it seems it was not necessary and the post was enough for the netizens to jump on her. But I do have a theory of what might have triggered the Ozempic-shaming. My theory is comments from Kris’s friends who complimented her on the weight loss might be the trigger. 

Whatever might be the trigger the netizens sure didn’t go easy on Kris Jenner. Comments started to pour in and like always the comments ranged from straightforward to downright savage. From “Kris Jenner on that Ozempic” to “another one on the Ozempic train #choochoo” the comments were really fun to read. One user even tried to drag Khloe Kardashian into this with his comment,” Awww that's so cute, a family that Ozempics together.” Khloe Kardashian also made headlines after she lost a lot of weight and then she too was accused of using Ozempic but nothing really stuck.  

Now, some of you might be wondering why is everyone so mad at a celebrity for using a weight loss drug. Well, mainly because Ozempic is not a weight loss drug rather it is a prescription drug for patients with Type 2 Diabetes. But many celebrities and influencers have used this prescription drug for weight loss. And Ozempic is so notorious for weight loss that even tech guru Elon Musk has been accused of using this drug. Now if you are thinking of using this drug for weight loss and you also might be interested in knowing that there are a lot of side effects to this drug. So, if you are ok putting yourself in harm’s way to lose a few pounds then knock yourself out but I would suggest that good old exercise is still a better option for you. 

Another thought might come to you, it’s their body! If someone wants to put their wellbeing at risk to lose weight then why are so many people trolling them online. It should be their decision. While this is true we as a society should let people decide what they want to do with their own bodies but there’s another way we need to look at this. The increasing use of Ozempic for weight loss has led to a shortage of drugs in the market. This means patients who actually need the drug cannot get their hands on it because of the shortage. I believe someone explained it the best with a comment saying,” Between the Kardashians and the real housewives there are no diabetes pills left! Why are they all just not admitting to taking and stop telling people they do it by diet and exercise!” 

But we cannot just blame the celebrities for the nationwide shortage. It’s not like only celebrities are using this drug for weight loss and celebrities are the sole reason for the nationwide shortage. But there is a shortage and the authorities do need stricter policies to regulate similar drugs. Now, coming to Kris Jenner, I am not sure whether she used Ozempic or not but she needs to tell her side of the story quickly before things take a turn for the ugly.
