5 horror shows you should definitely see this Halloween!

This is one of my favorite horror shows and might just be the best horror show on Netflix. The miniseries is somewhat based on the 1959 novel “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson, I know they could have at least changed the name. I think Mike Flanagan could not think of anything spookier for a title so just went with the same name of the novel. But credit where credit is due Mike Flanagan totally rocked his first miniseries at Netflix. The show follows a family who is still in tragedy and cannot escape their past in a not-so-normal house.

Yellowjackets

I just binge-watched the entire first season and cannot wait for the second season. Yellowjackets was an absolute treat for me this spooky season. The series follows a girls soccer team from the 90s. The team crash lands into a wilderness and struggles to survive but their struggle is just one part of the show that will captivate you. The second is the fast-forward to the present day where we see some of the survivors. What happened to the others? What was the price for their survival? What lines did they cross? Oh my god, this show will leave you with so many questions.

Chucky

Can I get a cheer for our favorite killer doll because Chucky is back with a series of his own? The series picks up after the events of Cult of Chucky, so if you have not seen the film yet do consider watching it first. It is Hackensack, New Jersey, and Chucky is all about getting his powers back. The Chucky series can really be considered a rebirth of the franchise. The series brings in some of the old characters and a new queer coming-of-age story that is just perfect for both new and old fans.

Servant

This show is certainly underrated but in my opinion, this is one of the best horror series out there in Apple TV Plus. The story follows a couple who lost their infant son Jericho. After the tragic loss, they rely on a facsimile designed to ease their grief and hire a nanny to look after the facsimile. But Jericho is back from the dead! Is the nanny behind Jericho’s resurrection? Or is this even Jericho? This show will keep you on the edge of your seat.

A bit of non-fiction hurts nobody so you can definitely add this docuseries to your list of horror shows to watch this Halloween. This series features several interviews that share insights into some of the biggest horror titles out there. If you want to know what goes behind the scenes then this is a great show to know how the horror genre was shaped by queer storytellers.
