7 electrifying performances by Betty White that you can now witness on OTTs

In what seemed like one last jab that 2021 took at the world, Betty White took her last breath on the last day of the year – a few weeks short of her 100th birthday. Betty White rose to popularity in 1973 during her run in The Mary Tyler Moore Show but became a household name and Hollywood sensation when she played Rose Nyland in the series The Golden Girls that was on air from 1985 to 1992. The icon has completed around 121 acting gigs, bagged a total of 5 Primetime Emmy Awards, innumerable Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Grammy, and a lot more.

So, what better way of honoring her legacy than re-watching some of her classics that are readily available on OTTs and are streaming right now? Go grab some popcorn and tight, while we make a fun playlist of beautiful Betty White.

The Golden Girls

The hit series had a total of seven seasons, and Betty White bagged an Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series in 1986, within the first year of the show’s lifetime. The Golden Girls is majorly about friendship, and the character that Betty White plays, Rose Nylund, is one of the most loyal friends there is on the show. It’s fair to say Betty White redefined American Television during the course of the series.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show

The Mary Tyler Moore Show Betty White

Betty White portrayed Sue Ann Nivens on this peculiar sitcom about a local news producer, and unsurprisingly, won two Emmy Awards for the same. Although unfair for the other actors on the show, Betty White pretty much stole the whole show in every single scene.

The Proposal

The Proposal Betty White

The Proposal presents Betty White as Grandma Annie, an adorable family matriarch to Ryan Reynolds’s character who is supportive of his unruly romance with his boss played by Sandra Bullock. It comes as no surprise that Sandra was nervous about keeping up with Betty White. We got to give it to Sandra for the steamy hot scene, but when compared to Grandma Annie’s antics… it’s kinda meh! Sorry, Sandra.

Hot in Cleveland

Hot in Cleveland Betty White

This one’s a multi-star series with three Hollywood veterans played by Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, and Wendie Malic. Their plane to Paris makes an emergency landing in Cleveland, and the three ladies just hang back. They meet Betty White’s character in the guest house where she is the caretaker named Elka. Guess who overshadows whom? Yep, it was a classic 3 vs 1… still the other party couldn’t hold on to their share of performance.

Boston Legal

Betty White starred in 16 episodes as the infamous yet notorious Catherine Piper within the first five seasons of Boston Legal but made everyone of it count. It’s SAFE to say the cities Catherine set foot on became UNSAFE due to multiple armed robberies, especially that of supermarkets.

Toy Story 4

The producers of the Toy Store franchise, at the peak of their success already, probably were brainstorming how they can go big on the next installment of the already astronomical franchise. And then bam! Betty White was the solution. She gave voice to one of the oldest toys Bonnie owned – a plush tiger. Any guesses what the tiger was called? Bitey White! I’d watch the movie just for the smart twist in the character’s name.

Saturday Night Live

Can you imagine an almost 90-year-old woman winning an Emmy for hosting SNL? Well, believe it because it happened. Betty White hosted the SNL in 2010 and lo and behold, casually won an Emmy for it. Her musical guest was none other than Jay-Z and the whole episode is just a roller-coaster of funny, sarcastic, and enjoyable moments.

Which one’s your favorite among these? Share this piece with your fellow Betty White fans and show some love to the amazingly talented departed soul.
