Tom Cruise, now 60 years old, has been estranged from his youngest daughter Suri since 2013, according to reports. The divorce documents between Tom and Katie granted Katie "sole custody" of Suri, with Tom agreeing to pay $400,000 a month until Suri turns 18 years old, covering her expenses including medical, dental, insurance, education, college, and other extracurricular costs.

Katie, who is 44 years old and known for her role in Dawson's Creek, has been heavily involved in Suri's life and the college application process. It is reported that Suri has been eyeing studying fashion at Fordham University in The Bronx, New York, and Katie has been supporting her daughter in taking the next step in her life.

The reason behind the estrangement between Tom and Suri is reportedly related to Tom's affiliation with the Church of Scientology. Katie filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences," and it is alleged that she sought full custody of Suri to remove her from the Church of Scientology's influence. It is reported that Suri was attending a Scientology-influenced school in California at the time, which Katie disapproved of, despite Tom's enthusiasm for the controversial religion.

Tom Cruise has been a prominent member of the Church of Scientology for many years, and it has been reported that the Church's strict beliefs and practices have caused a strain on his relationship with his daughter. In fact, author Samantha Domingo claimed in 2019 that Tom is not allowed to have a relationship with Suri because she is not a Scientologist and the Church's belief in reincarnation would not view Suri as Tom's daughter.
