1. Deadpool 3 (July 26)

I mean shouldn’t we begin with the best? Deadpool 3, the sole Marvel Studios film scheduled to release in 2024, is voted as the most anticipated film of 2024 in Frandagno’s annual survey, fueled by the long-awaited collaboration between Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. The movie marks the first “Deadpool” project to be produced by Walt Disney Studios after it acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019.
2. Argylle (Feb. 2)
Source: Vanity Fair
While the extent of Matthew Vaughn’s “twisted” mind remains a mystery, Argylle has already become the most talked-about movie of 2023. Argylle is an upcoming spy action comedy movie written by Jason Fuchs and features an ensemble cast that includes Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson. This one of the most exciting upcoming movies 2024 is scheduled to be released in the United States on February 2, 2024, by Universal Pictures and Apple Original Films.
3. Dune: Part Two (March 1)
Source: Variety
Back in 2012, Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi adaption looked like an expensive risk when it premiered simultaneously on theaters and HBO Max and then it made a lot of money and received a ton of Oscar nominations. In 2014, Denis Villeneuve’s sequel continues the journey of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) who teams up with revolutionaries including Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
As he begins on a warpath of revenge against those who destroyed his family, while also attempting to prevent a terrible future. Dune: Part Two also has many newcomers including Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux, and Souheila Yacoub. You should definitely watch this movie not only because you’re a big fan of Zendaya movies but also because who doesn't want to watch Zendaya and Timothée together?
4. Twisters (19 July)
Source: Variety
The movie is based on the 1996 disaster epic “Twister,” which starred
Helen Hunt, Cary Elwes, Bill Paxton, and Philip Seymour Hoffman as scientists trying to conquer the most powerful tornado in decades. While the plot details for the sequel are under wraps, Universal has described it as “a new chapter” from the original movie. Twisters will be directed by Lee Isaac Chung, best known for “Minari,” from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith (“The Revenant”).
In a victorious return to the Aliens rule of sequel-naming, Twister becomes Twisters for this blockbuster revival, even though another titling scheme comes to mind, given that this follow-up is arriving 28 years later. Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell lead the cast, with an unusually pedigreed director in the form of Minari’s Lee Isaac Chung. d.
5. Wicked: Part 1 (Nov. 27)
Source: Bleeding Cool
Wicked is based on Gregory Maguire’s bestselling novel of the same name — itself based on L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, was initially adapted into MGM’s classic 1939 film of the same name.
It’s a prequel to The Wizard of Oz which represents how the green-skinned Elphaba (Erivo) became the Wicked Witch of the West, as well as the sorceress Glinda’s (Grande) trajectory to becoming known as the Good Witch. This highly anticipated film version of Wicked has been split into two movies. The Broadway version runs a full 150 minutes, which, as we all know, is an unheard-of runtime for a feature film.
Anyway, Jon M. Chu has been making musicals for years now, whether officially, dance-centrically, or in the middle of an action movie, so he seems like a great choice to bring this Maleficent-style POV-shifted Wizard of Oz riff to movies. The movie features Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, with Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldbum, Jonathan Bailey, and Ethan Slater also on board.
6. Madame Web (Feb. 14)

Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson is ready to play the role of Cassandra Webb in Marvel’s “Madame Web” as the titular character, a clairvoyant paramedic who develops the ability to see into the future. She then must try and survive deadly forces with three women, played by Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced.
Madame Web is directed by British director and writer, S.J. Clarkson, who has previously been at the helm of some episodes of Jessica Jones and The Defenders, both of which were part of a Marvel-Netflix series, as well as directing an episode of Succession and Netflix's Anatomy of a Scandal. I’m personally excited to see Dakota and Sweeney being part of the Marvel family together, with one saying, “The power that Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney will hold in Madame Web."
7. Joker: Folie à Deux (Oct. 4)
Source: Esquire
Get ready for a gender-balanced superhero sequel! Lady Gaga is taking on Harley Quinn in Joker: Folie à Deux, joining the ranks of actors who've played iconic roles like the Joker and Batman (no surprise there!). It might feel like soon after Margot Robbie's fantastic performance in Birds of Prey, but this Harley's in a different universe. And considering the first Joker movie won an Oscar by drawing heavily from classics like King of Comedy, the musical sequel could have New York, New York on its mind too.
8. Kung Fu Panda 4 (March 4)
Source: Variety
If you love watching animated comedy films then DreamWorks’s Kung Fu Panda 4 is an amazing upcoming movie for you. The best part is DreamWorks doesn’t demand exclusivity deals from its voiceover talent: Kung Fu Panda 4 features Jack Black, returning to DreamWorks after jumping over to Illumination to sing “Peaches” as Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. The film is the fourth installment in the Kung Fu Panda franchise, and the sequel to Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016). Kung Fu Panda 4 is directed by Mike Mitchell and co-directed by Stephanie Ma Stine.
9. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (March 29)
Source: Ghostbusters News
The sequel to 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” represents the Spengler family leaving Oklahoma and going to the original New York fire station of the original 1984 “Ghostbusters” film. There, they interact with the original Ghostbusters and end up needing to “bust” a villainous force aptly named the Death Chill.
10. Challengers (April 26)
Source: IGN
“Challengers” directed by Luca Guadignino, is a steamy romantic comedy sports drama starring Zendaya as Tashi, a tennis coach who has trained her husband, Art Donaldson (Mike Faist), to tennis stardom. After an array of losses for Art, Tashi signs up for a challengers event against none other than Tashi’s ex-boyfriend and Art’s former best friend, Patrick (Josh O’Connor). It quickly becomes clear that tensions in the court stem from tensions off of it.
11. Inside Out 2 (June 14)
Source: Variety
In this long-awaited sequel, Maya Hawke’s Anxiety joins Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, as a now-teenage Riley grapples with new, complex feelings. Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, and Phyllis Smith will repeat their roles of Joy, Anger, and Sadness, respectively, while Tony Hale and Liza Lapira will take over the roles of Fear and Disgust for Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling. The film is being directed by Kelsey Mann (in his feature directorial debut), produced by Mark Nielsen, and written by Meg LeFauve. Inside Out 2 has already made history as Disney’s biggest animated trailer launch.
12. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (May 24)
Source: IMDb
When it comes to the most anticipated movies coming out in 2024, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is one of them that comes first. George Miller took a total of 30 years to bring back post-apocalyptic road warrior Mad Max via 2015’s Fury Road. The spinoff Furiosa surprisingly, arrives just eight years after that Oscar-winning blockbuster, though it takes more than a few pages from the Fury Road playbook.
Most noticeably, it recasts its main character, with Anya Taylor-Joy playing a younger version of Charlize Theron’s one-armed commander/driver/warrior from the earlier film. It also brings back the fearsome creep Immortan Joe and the super-saturated desert landscapes that became so instantly iconic in the earlier film. As George Miller’s “Mad Max” franchise continues with “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” fans are excited to see what actions and adventures this one holds.
13. Gladiator 2 (Nov. 22)
Source: Ruetir
An epic historical drama, Ridley Scott is back to direct the much-anticipated follow-up to his 2000 Best Picture winner “Gladiator.” Paul Mescal plays a grown version of Lucius Verus II, the nephew of the first film’s antagonist Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). The rest of the cast includes Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, and Derek Jacobi among others.
14. Terrifier 3 (Oct. 25)
Source: Variety
Art the Clown returns, but this time in a holiday-themed installment of the “Terrifier” slasher horror comedy franchise. The lead character David Howard Horton plays the creepy clown and Samantha Scaffidi plays the returning character Victoria Heyes, who was featured in the previous two “Terrifier” films. While the details of the exact plat have been kept under tight wraps, as revealed in the first poster for the film as well as the teaser trailer, Terrifier 3 will be set during the Christmas season. And we can guess that Leone has big moves to make this film even more extreme in terms of violence and gore compared to Terrifier 2.
15. Transformers One (Sept. 13)
Source: KinoCheck
Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Jon Hamm, Laurence Fishburne, and Brian Tyree Henry are some of the main stars rounding out the cast for the latest addition to the “Transformers” universe. Written by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, and directed by Josh Cooley, Transformers One will be an animated prequel movie set on Cybertron and will revolve around the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron going from brothers-in-arms to enemies.
