When I first heard that The meal menu of the Met Gala got viral I was shocked and how can I not be. The Met Gala is supposed to be a celebration of elegance, beauty, and creativity. I failed to see why the meal menu was getting so much attention. And I’m not just talking about the Met Gala meal menu getting a bit of attention from the netizens, they were outraged by what was put into the menu.
This year the Met Gala theme was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” in honor of the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld but how the menu outraged everyone so much. The only way to find out is by knowing what was on the menu. So are you ready? The menu featured truffle snow, lemon creme fraiche, and chilled pea soup with baby vegetables followed by Ora King salmon with vegetable nage, asparagus, pickled strawberries, and radish. And the guests would also have a lot of champagne and Diet Coke available to them.
To be honest that doesn’t sound like the best selection of a menu for an event as sophisticated as the Met Gala and that is the exact reason the netizens are outraged. The netizens have also referred to the food as “unacceptable” and “embarrassing”. And the barrage of tweets criticizing the menu kept on coming. The tweets ranged from as simple as “The food on the menu at the Met Gala sound disgusting” to as creative and brutal as “Sweet raptor Jesus, this is the menu for #MetGala tonight. Celebrities are starving themselves to death and paying out the nose for the privilege. What is this crime against food???”
The outrage was mainly fueled by the fact that the Met Gala tickets are very highly-priced and considering the event would be packed with Hollywood A-listers very little thought was given to the menu.
The internet age is really something. Did you ever think you would be outraged about the food menu of an event you are not invited to, comment down below.
