The incredible journey of Tom Cruise's "Top Gun: Maverick" that broke many records!

The action-adventure flick has achieved many milestones. Top Gun: Maverick has become Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing film of all time and Paramount’s most financially successful film. And that is not all, Top Gun: Maverick has crossed James Cameron-directed Titanic by more than $3 million and is now the seventh biggest film at the box office. Do you know which is the sixth? It’s the Avengers. Yes, Top Gun: Maverick is right behind Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War which sits in the sixth position with a collection of $678 million at the US box office. We are yet to see if Maverick can fly by Captain America. 

With Top Gun: Maverick soaring high Paramount decided to give something back to all the fans that made this possible. Paramount Pictures announced a “Fan Appreciation Weekend” to celebrate the film’s success of being the seventh-highest-grossing film of all time at the domestic box office. The gesture was sweet, to say the least, but also worked out in the favor of the production house as “Fan Appreciation Weekend” drew fans back to the theaters for more. Chris Aronson who is the president of Domestic Distribution of Paramount Pictures said in a statement “Paramount Pictures is eternally grateful to the millions of fans going to theaters to experience Top Gun: Maverick the way it was meant to be seen - on the big screen. We are excited about the Maverick fanfare starting this Friday….a small token of our appreciation for the remarkable support we have received from fans.” That did feel like it came from his heart, like earning millions of dollars would melt anyone’s heart after all.

The top Gun sequel is directed by Joseph Kosinski and takes place decades after the incidents that took place in Tony Scott-directed Top Gun that was released in 1986. And as the name suggests our favorite pilot Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell returns to the big screen. Fighting his own deepest fears Maverick heads on to a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from everyone who’s a part of it. Now that sounds like a recipe for a super duper hit.

Instead of a very intriguing storyline, I strongly believe the action sequences are what contributed to the success of the film. Tom Cruise always delivers top-notch action sequences and this film was no different. The film received praise from the audiences and the critics for its amazing heart-stopping action sequences. IGN in their review of Top Gun: Maverick said the film was “an out-of-bounds blast of afterburner fumes and thrillseeker highs that’s sure to please audiences looking for a classic summer blockbuster.” Talk about high praise right?
