What was Prince Harry's dilemma at the Queen's funeral?

The passing of the UK's longest reigning monarch will certainly lead to many changes, like her son and Prince Harry’s father King Charles III ascending to the throne. Also, Harry’s elder brother William along with his wife Kate was promoted to the posts of Prince and Princess of Wales. But the Duke of Sussex was in a dilemma of whether he can wear his military uniform while paying his tributes to the Queen.

Prince Harry is not a working royal and that is what originated the whole dilemma. Prince Harry who served in the British Army for almost 10 years was seen in civilian clothes when the Queen’s coffin left Buckingham Palace for the final vigil. Prince Harry being in civilian clothes was not actually a surprise for the public. Prince Harry’s spokesperson told The Independent that the Duke of Sussex will be in a morning suit and he wants everyone to focus on the everlasting legacy left behind by the Queen and not what he will be wearing.

However, Prince Harry was spotted wearing his military uniform in a more recent vigil. Sources reported Prince Harry was allowed to wear his uniform at the request of his father King Charles III. The said vigil was kept by the grandchildren of the late Queen and was held at Westminster Hall. But Prince Harry wearing his military uniform wasn’t such a happy event as everyone thought. Prince Harry discovered that the initials ‘ER’ after the late Queen Elizabeth II were removed from his uniform. Prince Harry did not have the ‘ER’ on his shoulders but the initials could be seen on the uniform of the Prince of wales. Shockingly Prince Andrew who is also not a working royal had the ‘ER’ initials on his uniform.

Many media channels reported that Prince Harry wanted to wear his civilian suit to avoid humiliation. The Sunday Times” even quoted a source which read “To remove his grandmother’s initials feels very intentional.” But Prince Harry was not supposed to wear his military uniform at all during the funeral as he was stripped of his “honorary military titles” post stepping down from his royal post. But the public was not happy seeing Prince Harry in a civilian suit whereas Prince Andrew was seen wearing his uniform in the vigil. That could be the whole reason King Charles allowed Prince Harry to wear his uniform. But following the shocking discovery, Prince Harry was seen wearing a civilian suit at the state funeral.
